1.Product Introduction
The Inlet Metering Valve is an integral part of a common rail diesel fuel injection system, similar to the Suction Control Valve (SCV) you mentioned earlier. The IMV, also known as the Fuel Metering Valve (FMV) or Fuel Pressure Regulator (FPR), controls the amount of fuel that is delivered to the high-pressure pump from the fuel tank. It plays a vital role in maintaining the proper fuel pressure in the common rail, which is essential for optimal fuel atomization, combustion, and engine performance.
The IMV is typically controlled by the engine control unit (ECU), which takes inputs from various sensors to determine the engine’s operating conditions, load, temperature, and more. Based on these inputs, the ECU adjusts the IMV to regulate the amount of fuel entering the high-pressure pump, thus ensuring consistent fuel pressure within the common rail.
